Spring Tease

It’s true if you don’t like the Arkansas weather, wait a day it will change. Today was one of those rare warm days in January. It was a balmy 72 degrees. This is just the kind of weather that gets me itching to get in the garden. In years gone past I might have even been fooled into planting something, only to watch it turn to a popsicle later in the week. But I’m older and wiser than all that. Now I have a very embarrassing photo of my garden to show you. Please don’t judge me to harshly.
Yes, it is a mess! I know you see a unkept, overgrown mess. I see the memories of a lush and bountiful garden full of okra, peppers and tomatoes. Ok, I see a mess too. But, it is part of my plan. You see if my garden was all cleaned up and cleared out then on a beautiful day like today I would have been tempted to plant something. Planting in January in Arkansas would be a big mistake! Instead, I spent that gardening energy to pull up last season’s 6 foot tall okra stalks. I still have a couple of rows of tomato cages that need to be cleaned up too, but I’m saving those for Farmer Rick.
Happy gardening everyone!
Thanks! In Siberia its too early even for window gardening. But I couldnt wait and made a small greenhouse out of cake container and grow thyme 🙂
Wow…I don’t think I will ever complain about our weather again.
Love the goats!!!!!
I love your messy garden and I sure have enjoyed you plentiful bounty. Farmer Rick is a very good farmer. And I have seen Spotty and BP and JQ working the garden also. So proud of you all.
