Tack Tidier

As a Mucking Mom, I find myself being a stall mucker, feed buyer, entry fee payer, trailer driver, horse holder, tack tidier, show shirt ironer, ice chest packer and #1 cheerleader for my horse crazy teenager, JQ. (I do love helping with all these horse chores.) Of course JQ is also a over achieving teenager with a full schedule of school activities this time year. So with 2 days until the first rodeo of the season, JQ is out of town till an hour before the rodeo. JQ did a lot of the prep work before she left. She has her gear and Prancer’s all packed in the horse trailer. All Prancer’s gear except these dirty boots!
So tack tidier to the rescue! Two days till the new rodeo season!
Weather forecast is a high of 40 degrees. It is going to be one very cold rodeo! I’ll be adding hot chocolate packer to my job description.
I do all my Mucking Mom duties because they lead to moments like this!
We didn’t do horses, but we did show a lot of livestock. I loved every minute of it and all of those “moments”. Now, all that hard work is paying off with my oldest as she is on the college show team and a ranch hand at the college ranch- paying for her college. I would have been worth if for just the memories, though.
Paying for college by showing animals that’s great! We have had some of our best and worst time showing animals, but I wouldn’t trade our time together showing for anything! The fun part for me is I’m not the horse, cow, goat, chicken, rabbit, or pig expert. I’m a city girl. So the kids and I have learned about these together, with the help of our amazing farmy friends.
