Fall garden planted
2September 20, 2013 by Buffy
Our Summer garden is still producing amazing amounts of produce, but we have began to add a few fall favorites too.
This is our first time to plant carrots. They probably should have been planted a little earlier but we just do the best we can. You know it is football season and that keeps us running! Hopefully they will still have time to produce.
The whole family has fallen in love with Romaine lettuce. It makes the best salad lettuce ever.
We always grow turnips in the fall too. These need thinning! The kids don’t really like to eat them so most of them get shared with Farmer Rick’s office. They will also make a great treat for Farmer Rick’s new prize rabbits this Winter. (Watch for an upcoming blog on the prize rabbits!)
I would love to add a few more items to the fall garden. Any suggestion?
What about garlic? I planted some for the first time last fall and I have really enjoyed using it this year.
Yes, I almost forgot the garlic! Thanks!
