The Enemy is Back!

The Colorado potato beetles are back and eating my potatoes! Again!!
They are laying eggs and multiplying, but not for long!
I fought these nasty beetles last summer too. Luckily I have some spinosad on hand. It is organic and worked like a charm last year. I’ll have to spray a couple of times to take care of them. Here is a link to last years photos of them The enemy The comments on last year’s post had some good recommendations to fighting these bugs. I may need to use a new weapon or two! I will have to treat my soil before planting next year.
We’ve got potatoes too. I haven’t seen them yet. Thanks for the organic tip.
Battle swords drawn! Good luck!
I don’t think there’s much you can do to prevent them showing up. One thing that helps is to plant your potatoes as far away as you can from where they were the previous year (making it harder for them to find the plants when they emerge.)
We don’t use spinosad so we have to battle them by hand. Checking regularly for a couple of weeks and eliminating the larvae, eggs and adults will control them.
Good luck.
