Holiday Coop
4December 9, 2014 by Buffy
I’ve been inspired to decorate the chicken coop for Christmas. (Thanks Aunt Libby!). Doesn’t it look great?
Better than having these wild teenagers hanging out in my cute window box!
Those red Nandina berries really are a great pop of holiday color. I wonder if those wild teenagers will eat them? Of course they will, eating is what teenagers do. I wonder if those berries are safe for chickens? After a quick google search, the Nandina berries have been removed. (No chickens were harmed in this decorating!) Several posts listed the berries to be poisonous to birds.
I ran out of daylight today, but maybe tomorrow I can find something colorful and edible to add! Do you have any suggestions?
I wonder if you have Beauty Berries around your area? They are wild here and I see them in woodlands and on the prairie as well – mostly in lowland areas where soil retains moisture. They grow wild in huge patches. The berries are pretty and I know birds, deer and foxes eat them.
Yes! I saw some of these yesterday, but didn’t know their name. Great idea! Thank you!
You could also pop a few grape/cherry tomatoes for color in there.
That would give me some nice red color! Good idea!
