Interesting Visitors

I live beside an Arkansas Game and Fish Lake. We have amazing sunrises from our side of the lake. We also have interested bird life that live on the lake. We see many kinds of ducks and geese daily.
We also see magnificent bald eagles occasionally. My chickens don’t thinks the eagles are very cool. This last month the lake has been taken over with white pelicans and seagulls. I have been unable to get a good picture of them.
The loveliest visitor we have had this month is a trumpeter swan. She is beautiful and graceful. She was traveling alone. We have seen her several days in a row.
Did I mention, she is big, very big! She stands over 4 foot tall out of the water. I have to admit she was pretty intimidating when she got up close. I’m not a fan of the i.d. neck-band, but I decided she must be important if someone put that huge ugly neck-band on her. I entered her tracking number in the USGS Website to find out where she was born. It took a few days to get my report back.
She was born in Mucking Mom Carole’s neighborhood, about 45 miles away. She is 6 years old.
I love all these little visitors.

Cool! I love the pelicans – they showed up in our lake last spring and floated around like huge white icebergs for a day or two, then vanished.
How cool to be able to search her. You are blessed to live in such a beautiful area!!
That is so cool! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! That is just too cool! I love being able to track animals, though like you, I am not too fond of the bands used. Great share! Thanks!
