Garden 2015 has Started
7February 10, 2015 by Buffy
It started on February 5th with the first seeds going into the trays!
I planted 18 New Girl Tomatoes, 18 Celebrity tomatoes, 9 Nero di Toscana cabbage, aka dinosaur kale, and 9 romaine Lettuce. This was very exciting! I have never grown kale before. I was however a little heart-broken when the package said it prefers weather below 75 degrees. I’m not sure it is going to the like Arkansas’ summer. Oh, how I dream of having garden fresh greens and tomatoes ripe at the same time! My romaine usually bolts right before I start to get tomatoes. Oh well, seeds are planted and I may go search my garden catalogs for some Summer lettuce to add in the next round of seed starts.
This morning I awoke to a wonderful surprise! Sprouts!
Let the gardening season begin! What are you growing? Do you have any recommendations for lettuce that will grow in the Arkansas Summer heat?
Buffy
Yay! The start of the growing season is always so exciting!
Yes, we will be putting potatoes in the ground soon!
YES! Let the gardening begin. Good luck with this years gardening. We’re still in the process of narrowing down the seed selection. On the list for certain: Black Krim tomatoes, Boule D’Or Melons. Cheers, Ben
I’ll have to check out those melons. I would like to add some melons to the garden this year!
I was just going through my seeds today. I usually start my tomatoes march 1. It seem like spring is already here but we know better, don’t we?
I am jumping the gun! But I had to do something! I’m so ready for Spring!
Me, too!!
