I was excited to find the first spears of asparagus in the raised beds today.

We planted these a couple of years ago and this year is our first year to harvest. I hope we keep getting lots and lots of fresh green spears. Do you grow asparagus?

Yayy!! Congrats. I have never grown asparagus but buy it at our local farmers market as we love it! Our soil is tough to grow it but maybe some time I will attempt it
Yay! We just planted about 15 crowns. I can hardly wait to be able to harvest them!
I haven’t grown asparagus but I’d like to one day! It takes quite the commitment! Your first harvest looks fantastic! Great job!
Congrats! Fresh asparagus is one of the joys of spring! So far only one bold spear has dared to emerge here, and it was promptly killed by a record-breaking freeze. But I’m expecting an asparagus explosion any day now and I can’t wait!
We have an asparagus bed, but it is still covered with straw for overwintering. We will begin removing the straw over the next few weeks depending on the weather.
Yeah! I am planning to add that this year to the garden, as we just love asparagus too! Spring is such an exciting time of year!
I just read your fig propagation posts and realized they were posted last year, so now I’m curious about the fig tree and all of its progeny – have you taken the old tree out of the asparagus bed? How are the starts doing? How long did it take your original fig tree to get that big?
All the new trees but one lived through the winter. We have not cut down the main fig tree yet, but since we are having such a wet Spring I’m trying to propagate a few more branches before it comes down.
