A quiz prepared by some of the eleven guessers made the carnival kick-off even more fun. The aim was to guess as well as possible. Questions like "how high is the eberner grauturn?, "how old are all the elferrate together" or "how many groups were registered for the carnival procession 2018"? Had to answer as good as possible. Two people were drawn by lot for each question and competed against each other. Those who came closest to the correct answer got to choose a prize.

Afterwards, the fools enjoyed the start of the carnival with a cosy get-together, while the "schwappier gasslesgeicher" (swashbucklers) were on the move musical entertainment was provided by. Once again, the handball team from ebern was responsible for the catering. After the official program, the chairman of the cultural ring, walter ullrich, was very satisfied with this year’s carnival kick-off: "the town hall is full, everything worked out great, the atmosphere is great – i am very satisfied." The friends of the plassenburg invite for sunday, 18. March, free admission to the kulmbach cinema cineplex for the premiere of the film "the plassenburg a. The highlight of the film: karl-theodor zu guttenberg lent his voice to the association project as narrator of the texts written by the association’s secretary andrea senf. The long-time member of the friends of the plassenburg does not appear in front of the camera himself, but acts as an off-screen narrator, as is known from documentary films, for example. Zu guttenberg also loved to incorporate his own knowledge from his family history.

His ancestors from plassenberg were once responsible for this site, but after a dispute with the owners, the burgraves of olamundy, they moved out without further ado and renamed themselves after their own castle of guttenberg in 1331. Whether zu guttenberg will be personally present at the premiere in the cinema, weith could not confirm, he is invited in any case.

The music for the short film was composed by stefan schnabel from baumgarten, who has been in charge of the association’s internet presence for several years now. Chairman peter weith and his wife ramona came up with the idea three years ago after they had seen a film by muck about the kindergarten in burghaig, which both impressed and deeply moved them.

For years it had been said in kulmbach that the castle was not advertised enough, that there was a lack of positive material to make it better known and to attract visitors. "Complaining doesn’t help – and neither does long waiting for others to be able to promote the castle", so far.

One wants to make all people curious about the plassenburg castle. Therefore, about two and a half years ago, the board of the association decided to present the plassenburg in a lasting and impressive way by means of a promotional and at the same time documentarily correct film.

"People from the region and those who know the plassenburg should be enthusiastic about the film, as well as people who are not yet familiar with it. And this is also a worthy project for the 90th anniversary of the association, which we will be celebrating in 2018", widely explained the intention of the association.

But all the planning and all the enthusiasm would have been in vain if they had not received sustained support for the project from the bavarian castle administration.

After the premiere, the DVD of the film, which lasts about a quarter of an hour, will be available for purchase from the friends of the plassenburg.

In addition to the history of the building, the film will also talk about life in the castle. The margraves albrecht alcibiades, georg friedrich and christian will appear in the film as well as the woman kunigunde von orlamunde.

The film is essentially a work created by volunteer members of the association, with the district local historian harald stark and holger peilnsteiner acting in an advisory capacity. In the prelude to the plassenburg film, a black-and-white film about a cultural festival in kulmbach from 1929, preserved in the city archives, will be shown, as well as a foray into the early years of aerial photography. From a private archive, the friends of the plassenburg present aerial views from the period 1917 to 1960 on the coarse cinema screen, which form a remarkable contrast to the modern shots of the following film.

The fifth edition of the music and pub night of the sports and culture association proved once again to be a crowd puller, as six different groups or groups of different genres performed. Artists in five local venues and in the town hall provided sophisticated entertainment. More than 300 tickets were already sold out in advance.

The music was very different – sometimes unplugged, sometimes loud and powerful: rock classics, blues, reggae, soul. Andreas martin hofmeir and barbara schmelz do the honors. To be more precise, her host lars hofmann and his 140 or so guests in the packed tenne of the effeltermuhle. He is also happy about the response: "I had perhaps expected half that number, but so many listeners on a wednesday evening during the vacation season, that’s absolutely great!" His audience, which probably came from all over the district of kronach to the idyllic valley bottom, ranged from an estimated five months to 95 years of age in order to experience the now third performance of the world-famous tuba player with his partner in the local area. You get a contrasting program with predominantly elegiac music pieces and cabaret-like recitations from the autobiography of the bewitched professor, who teaches at the mozarteum in salzburg. He tells of experiences on journeys with his voluminous instrument.

That "they", affectionately called "fanny" by him introduced, attracts attention as a fellow passenger on an airplane or train, and creates all kinds of situational comedy in the process, he easily conveys in his upper bavarian home ideom ("I bin in geisnfeld in der hallerdau aufgwachsn …") and with polt’s humor. An affable, down-to-earth guy who’s hard to imagine in a tuxedo in front of an international orchestra.

What the ex-labrassbanda-basser brings out of his instrument is simply breathtaking. Most emotional tremoli in the highest registers as well as deepest grumbling tones in fast tempi. After the somewhat roughly measured break, the tango comes to the fore, in between also a faster title ("… Before lars stubbornly falls from the balustrade!"), but all in all it had been allowed to get a little bit more lively. "But whoever orders a tuba concert for his birthday can’t be helped anyway", the maestro makes it clear from the start.

Anyway, the audience liked it very much and the two artists were celebrated with standing ovations after they had once again indulged in melodrama during their encore.

"Open wide the gates – what could be more festive at christmas time than the solemn playing of brass instruments with their incomparably majestic sound?? Music for the third advent was on the atmospheric program of the advent concert on sunday evening, which began with just this joyful and hopeful composition – performed by the wind band st. Georg friesen – an impressive start to the season.

For an hour in the friesen parish church, bathed in a soft light from many candles, the performers – the brass band, the catholic church choir and the mannergesangverein "cacilia" – prepared a festive christmas carol frieze – your audience a rough musical joy for the pre christmas season.

Bright female voices, profound male voices: with selected compositions, the two choruses provided impressive listening experiences. The church choir sang such joyful messages of the living lord as "he is coming, he is coming" in an empathetic and very fresh way as well as "hosanna, david’s son" from the pen of johann georg herzog to. At
conducted by deanery cantor marius popp, the beautiful voices harmonized splendidly and blended into a harmonious whole. The finely tuned singing sounded as if from one cast.

the hustle and bustle of everyday life and spurten himself – with absolute silence.

A resounding conclusion

The crowning finale of the heartfelt concert was the song "macht hoch die tur", sung by all participants, the congregation and the organ.

With long applause the guests thanked for the one-hour musical experience, which still held them in a special spell as they left the church. At the same time, it showed once again how lucky we are to be able to enjoy such deeply moving musical confessions of faith throughout the church year. This was also the view of pastor sven raube, who thanked all the contributors. Between the pieces, the latter had contributed contemplative thoughts on advent – advent, for him a special time of invitation, meeting,

Heribert voll is a "full-blooded homer" and musician, who comes from gefall (markt burkardroth). This is what was said during his walk over the barren country life in the rhon, as it was still present in the 60s of the last century.

He told of the customs, of the yearly routine in the rhondorfer and peppered it with anecdotes from the time when he was still a boy. What does he treasure in his native land? "The tradition, the home. The rhon does not exist a second time. The rhoner is his own person. You have to know how to tackle him, then you can tell he’s a lovely person at heart", he explains. It is important to him that the old songs and customs are passed on to his grandchildren so that they are not lost. He is the chief of the "hoibuche muisig", in which his wife luise also plays and sings. She explains the rich cultural life of the countryside as follows: "in the past, in the poor villages of the rhon, the spinning room was the only diversion for the villagers during the winter months. There was singing, broom making, mending the potato sacks, but also learning to dance. Rough fathers told stories that made the children’s hair stand on end. This is how the need was passed on."

Songs of love and sorrow
